N3RDISTAN DUO
[PERPIGNAN-OCCITANIE] ÉLECTRO-POÉTICO ORIENTAL
« L’idée de ce projet est de créer une musique électro enrichie de diverses influences (orientales, africaine, occidentales), d’amener les instruments traditionnels à accompagner cette création sonore, de les faire sortir de leur zone de confort pour jouer une musique contemporaine. Nous avons un pied sur terre et un pied dans le digital afin de trouver la sagesse, la liberté, la sérénité. »
Artiste franco-marocain, Walid Ben Selim, s’est d’abord imposé au Maroc en 1999/2000 au sein du groupe Thug Gang formé avec Widad Broco, première rappeuse du pays. A son arrivée à Perpignan en 2002 il fait le pont entre rap et rock métal et découvre la poésie orientale. Dans la lignée du projet Orient Express créé en 2016, Walid Ben Selim se présente en live en duo, sous le nom N3rdistan, avec Widad Broco (machines et chant), son acolyte de toujours. Ils poursuivent ainsi la mise en musique, et au goût du jour, de poésies ancestrales du patrimoine arabophone. Une exploration qui donnera naissance à un premier album le 15 Février 2019.

The French-Moroccan artist Walid Ben Selim first made a name for himself in Morocco in 1999/2000 within the group Thug Gang founded with Widad Broco, the first female rapper of the country. As he settled in Perpignan (Pyrenees) in 2002, he started experimenting a new style between rap and rock metal, and discovered arabic poetry at the same period. Following the philosophy of Orient Express, a project he launched in 2016, Walid Ben Selim‘s current show is a duo with Widad Broco, who remains his sidekick MC, under the name of N3rdistan. Their way to dig in old arabic poetries, and to present it as lyrics of modern tracks gave birth to a first album, released on 15th February 2019.
